RUSSIAN PURCHASE IN AMERICA With a view of expanding wool production, the Russian Government has bought 10,000 live Rambouillet sheep from Oregon'. This is said to be the largest international . livestock deal ever made. Some of the sheep will go to Noithem Russia, some to Siberia, and many will be distributed throughout Caucasia. This deal follows a lengthy study of American sheep by a Russian commission sent across the Atlantic for that purpose, and it is reclared that this transaction is but thri beginning of an importation from America Avhieh will develop into something approaching half a million head. The 10,000 purebred Rambouillcts m ihe present consignment were all secured from Hay Creole Ranch, near Madras, in Central Oregon, an estate coverino' 300 square miles of territory, or approximately 100,000 acres. The sheep will have travelled 10,000 more miles before they are. distributed.
