THE “ACID” TEST
A doctor giving evidence at Milnthorpe, Westmorland, England, in a charge against a motorist of being drunk in charge of a motor car, said he did not believe in tongue-twisters as tests for drunkenness. He asked the defendant' to stand with his feet together and his eyes closed. On being shown that the motorist was able to do this —a test which would floor many sober people—the Magistrate dismissed the case.
