MANGAHAO WILL WELCOME SHOWERS.

THIRD DAM NOT YET FILLED. Although the new big o'aiu at the Mangahao electrical works has been completed some little time, there has not been sufficient rain to make it really worth while shutting the gates. The result is that the Public Works Department has again been obliged to eal! upon the Palmerston North and Wellington plants to help bear part of the heavy load —much greater than that for which the plant was designed —on various occasions. Once the new dam is filled there is no doubt lhat Mangahao will be able to carry on on its own. A good fall of vain' would thus be very welcome.
