MAY CAUSE BLAZE
The idea that a car must be heated up and running before ij is subjected to the hazard of self-ignition accounts for many car fires.
A weak battery is one of the small things that • encourage car fires, and this applies when the engine is cold rather than when it is hot.
A typical instance was where an owner, failing to get action from the battery, decided to let the ca r crank itself by rolling it down the hill in gear. Excessive choking flooded the carburettor and a backfire did the rest.
A costly car went up in smoke because an owner failed to appreciate that a large percentage of fires start when engines ar e cold.
