MODERN' SHIP EQUIPMENT. Radio on board the luxurious passenger ships of to day, not only for wireless communication, but also for. the entertainment and convenience of passengers has reached a new level with the equipment of an American liner for service between San Francisco and the Hawaiian Islands. The strip has been named the Malo'lo. and o dablishes a new record for de luxe service for its distinguished passenger list, with a stock quotation and .inancial news service daily by radio. The high-power European transmitter at New Brunswick will send the fiman- ■ eial news to the steamer. With a marine installation including- a transmitter of two kilowatts, a radio telephone set of three-quarters kilowatt, with duplicate receivers, a radio compass direction-finder and several aerials, the Malolo is said to carry tile latest and most up to date radio equipment on an American passenger ship. A feature of the Malolo's radio equipment is a telephone booth. From this booth any passenger may talk to other ships, or complete any desired land connection. By connecting the booth with the regular ship’s telephone switchboard, the same service will be instantly available by merely taking up one of the telephones in any cabin.
