MAORILAND THEATRE.

BUCK JONES IN 'DESERT VALLEY'

Amid scenes of rare beauty among the fantastic formations of the canyons of the Mojave, Fox Films feature '' Desert Valley," starring Buck Jones, was filmed. It will be screened at the Maoriland Theatre on Saturday. Comedy, thrills and suspense abound in this fine picture whose story deals with the feud of cattlemen over water rights. Buck plays the part of an irrepresible cowboy, who has a knack for getting into trouble over other people's troubles. Virginia Brown Faire is the girl in" the case and Malcolm Waite the ruthless owner of the water rights. Hard riding, spectacular fighting and comedy of a rare order make this one of the best westerns seen locally for some 'time. This is a clean wholesome picture which the entire family will enjoy. "TAXI! TAXI!" Alone in a great city, driving a notorious car on which police have been ordered to shoot at sight, unable to abandon it, fleeing from officers, crooks and an irate uncle! This situation" should be exciting enough for any N i farce comedy and it provides a screamingly funny climax to the Universal-Jewel production,. "Taxi! Taxi!" one of the most amusing pictures of the season which will be screened on Monday. The picture is sheer hilarity, and nothing more, yet it seldom taxes one's credulity, and is a basis of plausibility even in its wildest moments. One's interest is sustained without a single let-down, from the moment Edward Everett Horton, featured player in the production, appears on the . screen in the opening sequence, until he manages to wed Marian Nixon after six reels or more of excitement enough to make a Chicago policeman turn grey. The first episode of an exciting serial "The Radio Detective" will also be released on Monday.
