LEVIN SCORES HIOH FOR TRIANGULAR SHIELD. The Triangular Shield contest opened on the Levin Bowing Club's green yesterday, when four rinks from the Levin Club played two from Shannon and two from Foxton. The aggregate scores were: Levin 102, Shannon 29, Foxton 27. The local club's score was a record for this competition, the highest previous score by four rinks having been 99, made by Shannon in l the 192324 season. Following are the details of play: — L ev i n —pink, von Hartitzsch, Percy, Suhan (s)—3o v. Shannon (Roach, s) 8. Levin —Cameron. Derham, Challies, Bull (s) 24 —v. Shannon (Knowles, s) 21.

On Wednesday next the match will be at Foxton, between four rinks from the Foxton Club and two from each of the other'clubs; and on the following Wednesday, the contest, will be completed at Shannon, where four rinks will be provided bv the Shannon Club to play two from Levin and two from Foxton. DIXON CUP CHALLENGES. The Levin Bowling Club, whose representatives won the Dixon Cup from Feilding, will contest the first challenge on Saturday, when 'a rink' from the Manawatu Club will come to Levin to meet the local rink. Challenges have also been reecived from the following' flubs: —Dannevirke, Palmerston North, Takaro, Woodville,. Shannon, Terrace End, and Oroua. TAKARO CUP. MANAWATU RETAINS, TROPHY. Manawatu successfully staved off a challenge from Shannon on Saturday for the Takaro Cup, which was won from Takaro last week. It was an easy victory, the final score being 34 to 15. \ The visitors were in the lead at the second head, but a 3 and a 5 in succession saw the holders lead 9—3. At the conclusion of the 7th head Manawatu were leading by 15 to 4. The visitors failed to score after the 13th head until they reached the 21st, which was taken with a 4. The rinks were: Shamfcm: Blackwood, Burns, Brann, Gagliardi (skip). Manawatu: Shand, Morris, Holdaway, Gerrand (skip).
