“ONE INCREASING PURPOSE.” Edmund Lowe is said to give op e of the finest dramatic performances of ms career in “One Increasing Purpose, the Fox Films’ version of the novel by A. S. M. Hutchinson, which comes to the Maoriland Theatre on Saturday Mr. Lowe has the role of Sim Paris, a visionary young man who retuirns tyom France.to find his family in a Constant state of quarreling and unrest. He cannot fathom why it is that he has been saved from death while in action, for he has been in the thick of the fight, and the more lie thinks the more he wonders about the “Purpose” behind it all. His search for the reason for the present scheme of things , and the final solution of lm problem , forms a soul-stirring drama that has been transferred beautifully to the screen. Lila Lee is cast opposite Mr. Lowe in the role of his> self-sacrificing sweetheart. Jane bfovak plays the part, of his brother’s dissatisfied wife, Alice. “THE RIDIN' RASCAL.” Speed, , action and romance are jammed into the five whirlwind reels of “The Riding’ Rascal,” the Art Aeord picture which is to head Monday’s bill. It is one of the most thrilling and well-knit, yarns offered local theatregoers in months. There is not a. loose bit of continuity in •it and the action progresses at a rapid pace with no falling down of suspense until after the picture reaches its thrilling denouement. ' ,
Art Aeord is a. charming hero who fits into his role perfectly. t Here is a flayer who will be tlie outstanding Western star in a very short time if he keeps up the pace he sets .in “ The Ridin’ Rascal.” ■;
