WOMEN WHO SCORE
Who are the women who are happy, who make others happy, whose faces (no matter how. ordinary they may be) are always attractive to look upon; whose health, is as a rule, good who are never short of friends, or presents, or invitations; who are taken Out, whose husbands never desert them, whose servants stay with them, and who, when old age time comes along, do not seem to grow old?
Are they the rich, the clever, the beautiful women? Not at all. They are the good-tempered women. Good temper is a woman's greatest charm and greatest asset, and the quality which, to a large extent, makes her life a success.
Practically every woman - whose husband has left her, or—but for a sens e of duty —would like to leave her ,is bad tempered. Most friendless and unwanted women are badtempered; and those feminine workera who seem perpetually looking for new jobs are bad tempered. And very sad it is, because frequently it happens that bad-tempered women are very good-hearted women —conscientious, painstaking, and honourable —good women. And if they were not bad-tempered they would be just one degree better, and happy as well! .
All petted and worshipped wives are good tempered. Even if they are inclined to be extravagant, unpunctual, untidy, and inconsequent (all qualities which tend to destroy the harmony of the home), these little failings, if they are good-temp'ered, are fondly overlooked. Sweet maid, be good-tempered and let who will be clover.
