Screens are always popular. I saw a quaint design or delicately fretted wood. It was unpolished and set Into a varnished frame without a background. A beautiful creation for a boudoir was of painted chiffon, framed in brilliant lacquer.
Emerald green glass is the latest fad for ornaments. Buddhas are particularly effective and consequently are enjoying an unexpected return to popularity. A strange fashion in plain glass lampstands is for an untinted stand, half full of water, which if not actually covered in cobwebs, certainly has the air of having stood -for some time. It is shaded, of course, and is completed by the most wonderful lampshade. A new vogue in fluted shades is now obtained with moire. Parchment shades are also edged with ribbon. , ~ ■: *
