THOSE BRUSHES
Scrubbing brushes of all sorts should be made to hang up, and it pays to have a good number, so that clekn dry, sweet-smelling .brushes are always available. Two brushes used on alternate days, and washed daily, in hot soda water, will outlast four that never have a chance to dry. Clothes brushes need frequent washing if they are to remove dust and dirt with any degree of efficiency. A hot lather and a cold salt rinse will keep bristles stiff, while an occasional dip in a, weak solution of’ household ammonia is all to the good. Men \s hair brushes need far more attention than they usually receive. The ideal is a daily bath in a lukewarm soapy lather and two or three rinsings in soft water, with slow drying in a current of air, well away from any artificial heat. In our climate this entails two or three sets of brushes in use at once, but the extraordinary effect of perfect cleanliness on hair and scalp is well worth the trouble.
