MISTAKES TO AVOID
Do not be misled into thinking that a thick tumbler is stronger than a' thin one. Glass is a bad conductor of heat, and when hot liquids are poured into a tumbler tjhe inner layer becomes heated more quickly than the outer, and so the latter break through the expansion of the inner. A thin glass therefore, is better because jks whole fabric is raised to almost the same temperature at once.
in preserving vetetable marrows remember to cut them while they are still young and tender, ■ with. as long a stalk as possible. Melt somej wax and dip the stalk into this till well coated. Take some strips of material and making two loops, suspend the jnarrow from the ceiling of a dark cellar or cupboard. There should be free ventilation but no possibility of frpst later on.
