“TEN COMMANDMENTS.”

From the South African Automobile Association has been received a recent copy of their book of rules in which the following “Ten Commandments" appear:— 1. Thoq shall ever drive thy vehicle with care for thine own and thy neighbour’s safety. 2. Thou shall, faithfully observe the traffic regulations of the city and the country in which thou travellest. 3. Thou shalt not race with the i-ailway train for the crossing, nor shalt thou race wi/th thy neighbour's on the road, nor with anything that goeth upon wheels. 4. Thou, slialt turn corners slowly and with due regard for erratic pedestrians and the pointsman afoot. 5. Thou shalt not drive -past the man with the red flag at the railway crossings,' neither slialt thou try to shave the wheels of the humble and erratic rickshaw. 6. Thou shalt not “honk-lionk" nor blow thy horn unduly, neither furiously, for soon thy neighbour will heed it not. 7. Remember thy brakes and thy steering gear, that they may be 0.K., in their action, so that thy days may be long in the land. 8. Thou shalt bring no matches, neither lighted pipe, nor cigar, nor cigarette and no fire whatsoever near liquid fuel or spirit tank, that thy car may safely remain in being, and with thyself.

9. Thou shall be ever sure, but in no wise cocky, and for all and for ever take for- granted nothing that may involve danger. 10. Thou shalt deal abundantly in Safety First .and shalt make of Safety thy, chief concern first, last ahd always.
