DEATH OF A PATIENT
CASE OF imSADVENTURE. MOSQUITOES-AND MALARIA, ■ , LONDON, October 12. A Lambeth jury returned a verdict of death from misadventure at. an in-' quest concerning the death of George Balfour, 58, which occured at St. Thomas' Hospital. Dr. Clements gave denc-e that death was due to cerebralmalaria, following bites by malaria mosquitoes, with which the hospital was treating patients for locomotor ataxia. It was revealed that the Ministry of Health supplied the mosquitoes to the hospital. The results of the treatment, it was stated, were really magical. No pain was experienced after the first dose. It was the only hope of arresting the disease.
Replying to the coroner, Dr. Clements said inoculation with malaria was very easily controlled. He,instanced a number of marvellous results, including that of an insane man who became completely sane after three months.
