CRICKET.
PHOENIX WEDNESDAY CLUB. A meeting of the newly formed Phoenix Wednesday Cricket Club was' held in Mr Kidson's rooms Wednesday, and much interest was displayed in the movement. Mr F. Pirani was voted to the chair. The election of officers was held over until the date of the first practice, which will take place on the Levin Domain next Wednesday, at 2 p.m. sharp. The membership subscription was fixed at 108 6d for seniors and 5s for youths under 18 years. Mr Currin Avas appointed secretary and treasurer, and was instructed to make arrangements with the secretary of the Phoenix Club for the use of the ground and cricketing material for the first practice game.
A number of members were elected by the meeting. ' With the advent of a new club, Wednesday cricket in Levin looks distinctly promising for the coming season. has been reported that Gtaki intends forming a Wednesday cricket team. The Wednesday Half-holiday Club will be holding their annual meeting at an early date. The Foxton.Club will again place, a Wednesday team in the field for the coming season.
