ARATANGATA DRAIN
EXCLUSION FROM BUCKLEY DISTRICT CONFIRMED.
A reply from, the acting-Minister of Internal Affairs (Hon. .Sir Maui Pomare) to the ilorowhenua County Council's representations for the alteration of boundaries of the Buckley Drainage district was received by the Council, through Mr J. Linklater* M.P., on Saturday. A deputation had waited on the Minister in this matter; and in ! liis letter he stated that he had taken the opportunity of going fully into the circumstances connected with the case. As a result, and after 1 considerable reasoning, he regretted that he was unable to see his way to authorise.any departure from the decision that the whole of the lands added by the Commission, including 'the Aratangata drain, should be excluded from the district. It was proposed, therefore, to give effect to this decision by Order-in-Council, which would be submitted at rhe next meeting of the Executive Council. A subsequent letter from the Acting-Minister was accompanied by an extract from t,hc Gazette covering the Order in-Cmiicil referred to. On the chairman's .notion, the correspondence was-received.
