SHANNON BOWLING CLUB.
A meeting of the Shannon Bowling Club was held on Wednesday evening. Mr B. J. Brann presided. The opening day was fixed for Saturday, the 22nd inst. Invitations to the opening of the Takaro, Palmerston North, and Foxton Clubs were received and it was left to the secretary to arrange rinks to attend these places. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded Messrs Gunning and E. Butt for the work they had done in getting the grounds in OTder and to Mr. A. T. White for erecting additional lockers.
The meeting resolved that the rule regarding the payment of 10s on the nomination of new members be rescinded.
Tlie Green Committee reported that a lot more work would need to be done before, the green would be ready for play. In consideration of the Club's finances, the work so far had been practically carried out by voluntary labour. No definite arrangements had yet been made for a caretaker for -the ensuing season. Members decided to continue the working “bees" until opening days. The usual progressive Labour Day Tourney will again be held. Messrs Clayton, Gagliardi and Knowles were appointed a Games Committee to take charge of gala days and night'play for trophies. It w is decided that the championship pairs and singles be played on the’same system as last season/ A Yankee Pairs tourney was arranged for to commence after opening day and end on December 18th.
