BAG SNATCHER’S MISTAKE.

WRONG WOMAN ROBBED

Sydney, Sept. 16. A. bag snatcher missed a haul _oi £2OO this afternoon.

Knowing that Mrs. May Burne, oi Belmont Street, Alexandria, who was accompanied by her mother, had set out from her home to pay wages to heT employees, he dashed up in the quiet of Alexandria Street and grabbed Mrs. Burne's handbag, which- contained a purse and watch and chain. He afterwards jumped into a motor car, in which two men were seated, and drove away.

It was Mrs. Burne ; s mother who was carrying the wages money (£200) in her handbag. In his excitement the thief took the wrong bag. The theft was reported to Superintendent Mankey who assigned several of his .detectives to the inquiry.
