HUI MAI 9—WERAROA 3

In the first, game for the Nash Cup Hui Mai met' Weraroa on the Levin Domain on Saturday. The ground was ifi good order and although rain commenced before the game was over, itdid not tend to make either ground or ball slippery and the weather conditions could in no way be blamed for the faulty handling that was frequent on .both sides throughout lhat veteran of Rugby, Bob George, kicked off for Hui Mai, who carried the game into Weraroa V 25. Hui Mai .securing from a scrum looked dangerous at this period, but the pass went Wide and a good opportunity was missed. Players on both sides were taking matters decidedly easy and missed many an opportunity by not following up. At the end of 20 minutes, however, Hui Mai were pressing hard, but Weraroa had a safe defence in Graham at full back and he saved the situation on several occasions.
