‘ ‘ JUST ANOTHER BLONDE. ’ ’ The First National picture, “Just Another Blonde,” due in Shannon on Wednesday, is a delightful little story, with plenty of love, interest, suspense, comedy and thrills. It is an adaptation of the late Gerald Beaumont’s story, “Even Stephen,” and is the story of two young men and two young women of an usual walk of life.
Mulhall and William Collier, Jr., play the parts of young gamblers at a gambling house. Dorothy Mackaill and the smart-looking Lousie Brooks are a dance hall hostess and an attendant at a shooting gallery, respectively. The two young men have A-oAved never to fall in and their life is a fifty-fifty affair. But, of course, love finds a Avav, even though an airplane crash does help out, and all ends happily .
LAUGHING LIFE ON OCEAN WAVE Eclipsing their superb performances in “Behind the Front,” Wallace Beery and Raymond Hatton march to smashing victory in their latest Paramount co-starring comedy “We are in the Navy Now, ’ ’ which is to be screened on Friday. It is the most truthful excruciating funny tale of the war yet portrayed on any screen. Not a naval comedy situation has been left out of this picture. Big battles scenes showing all manner of ships, hydroplanes and submarines lend a spectacular force. Portrayed by an usual cast, the laughable side of the Navy has been played to the limit under Edward Sutherland’s direction. The story deals with the adventures of a pugilist, Beery; and.his manager, Hatton. Literally knocked out of the prize ring, they land in a whirlpool provided by the World War. And never was there such a pair of green gobs! Chester Conklin scores a personal triumph as the transport captain, while Tom Kennedy, the chief petty officer, adds to the fun. A love theme involving beautiful Lorraine Eason and Donald Keith, runs right 'through the hectic experiences encountered by Beery gnd Hatton.
