SHANNON PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH.
The annual meeting of the congregation was held in the Shannon Presbyterian Church last Thursday evening. The Moderator, Rev. J. H. Bredin presided over a fair attendance.
The balance sheet, winch was read and adopted, was very favourably commented upon by the Moderator, who stated it reflected great credit on the good work done by the Management Committee and congregation. A report of the Sunday School and balance sheet was also read showing a very creditable and healthy state of affairs. On the Sunday School, roll there are 47 children. - A hearty vote of thanks was accorded the Sunday Schocd teachers, Mesdames McCulloch* (Superintendent), Williamson and Miss Clayton for the good work carried out in connection with the Sunday School. Mr. Ryrie stated he wished to have placed on record the great and noble Christian work rendered to the Church by Mrs McCulloch, during her sojourn in Shannon. He also referred to the splendid work done by Miss Aim as organist. Mr. Rvrie further stated that if it were not for the great work of these two ladies, he did not know how the Church would have fared. Rev. Mr Williamson, in endorsing the kind sentiments expressed by Mr. Ryrie in regard to Mrs McCulloch and Miss Aim, also thanked Mr. Steven for taking services when lie (Mr. Williamson) first same here, and also the Management Committee for valuable services rendered. Mr. Williamson also spoke of the bright little service with a splendid congregation at Makerua. He intended opening service at Man-
gaore. Mr. Taylor, of Makerua, spoke of the great work carried out by the Presbyterian Chureh in imparting the gospel of Christ to the children of his school at Makerua during the six years he has been in charge there. Rev. Mr Brodin expressed thanks to Mr. Taylor for the kind sentiment spoken of the Presbyterian Church and stated it was only through the great kindness of Mr. Taylor that the Presbyterian Church were able to give Bible
lessons to the children in his charge. Ihe following officers were appointed for the next twelve months: Mesdames McCulloch and Nicliol, Messrs Steven, Sandison, Wouldes and G. Mitchell, with Mr. Ryrie and another to be appointed to the Session. Mr. Williamson on behalf of the congregation, expressed sincere thanks to Mr. Bredin for presiding over the meeting and Mr. Bredin in replying spoke of the splendid progress made under Mr Williamson’s administration and felt sure that the next 12 mouths would prove very happy and prosperous. He appealed to all Presbyterians to attend service and by doing so, it would make the task of the minister much lighter and his sojourn here a very happy one. After all the business had been transacted, the meeting closed with the partaking of dainty refreshments kindly provided by the ladies.
