MAORILAND THEATRE.
"THE MIDNIGHT KISS;" On Saturday, William Fox will present at the Maoriland Theatre "The Midnight Kiss." This picture is based on John Golden's stage play, "Pigs," that took Broadway with a storm ot laughs. It features the screen's two youngest lovers, Richard Walling and Janet Gavnor in a rollicking comedydrama of "conquering youth that brings home the bacon of love and laughter.. It was an astonishing success on the stage and has been a record-breaker on the screen. "LOOKING FOE TROUBLE." Jack Pepper, better known as "Don Quickshot." is in love with Tulip Hellier, daughter of Jim Hellier, a wealthy Texas rancher. Jack sees the girl in the company of a group of men whom he knows to be members of a band engaged in selling dope throughout the country. What effect this had on his love for the girl'forms one of the high spots of "Looking for Trouble," Uni-versal-Blue Streak Western.,! starring Jack Hoxie, that will be screened at the Maoriland Theatre on Monday.
This thrilling Western picture play is different from others of this type in that at no time is there a question of a mortgage being due or a ranch to be saved. The story has principally to do with the operations of the dope ring and of its many fights with Pepper. The latter is the character impersonated by Hoxie, who acquits himself in this role with his usual sterling ability. Not only does Jack.do some wonderful riding, but he also shows that his long absence from the range has by no means lessened his accuracy in throwing the lariat. It is Pepper's method of rounding up several members of the band and is most effective.
"Looking for Trouble" is full of many interesting and thrilling scenes. There is a carefully concealed mystery running through the picture which is not uncovered until almost the,, very end.
