BISHOP KEEPS ENGAGEMENT. NARROW PROTEST IGNORED. LONDON, July 20. A protest against his occupying the pulnit of a Nonconformist chapel was addressed to the Bishop of Leicester by eighty members of the clergy and laitv of the diocese. Dr. Bardslev had announced his intention of preaching a sermon at the Burton commemoration service which, held alternately in Anglican and Free Churches, was this year arranged to lake place at the Loughborough Baptist Chapel. When asked if he would preach the sermon, the bishop replied, “Circumstances permitting, I usually manage to keep my engagements.” And his lordship did keep the engagement.
