lii the golf match on Saturday last, Shannon v. Manawatu, an easy win was secured bv the home team by games to 34. No doubt the local conditions; wm-e" somewhat in favour of the Shannon pi avers, and in the return match at Palmerston next month we may see the order of things reversed. The wea. ther was perfect foil golf and the otouihls were in. splendid order. The visitors thoroughly enjoyed the outing, and were entertained at luncheon at the Manawatu Hotel; and later at af--lernoon tea at the golf house by the ladv members. The President (Mr Blackwood) in extending welcome to the visitors, expressed the pleasure it o-ave the Shannon -plaj’ers in having members from Manawatu and the good sportsmanship such inter-club games fostered. In replying Mr Spencer,, captain of Manawatu. thanked the Shannon members for the very enjoyable day’s sport they luid. had, and for the l sumptuous wav they had been entertained by the ladies. He called for three hearty cheers for their hostesses and three" for the team they had played. Ne.vt Saturday, Shannon will play a team of 12 men and 7 ladies from Levin on the Buckley course. Play to start at 1 p.m. The Shanuon men s team will tie the same as tor last Saturn dav, with- two alterations, the ladies will bo Mrs Saxon, Mrs Morgan, Miss Saxon, Mrs Johnston, Miss Sinclair, Mrs Cronquest and Mrs Spencer. . >-•.
