SHANNON ATHLETIC CLUB’S CARNIVAL.
OVER £l2O RAISED. A meeting of the Committee of the above was held ou Wednesday evening to Wind up affairs in connection with the recent Carnival to raise funds to carry out improvements to the Domain. There was a good attendance, the president, Mr J. T. Bovis, presiding. A statement of receipts showed that the nett amount obtained by the stalls was as follows: Sweets £22 17s lid. refreshments £36 15s 9d, plain and fancy £3l 16s lid, goods paid for and unsold exceeding £lO, farmers £37 12s Bd, door takings £7 12s 6d. There are also amounts for sundry items such as tug-of-war entries, etc., not included in the above figures. There are several accounts yet to come in, stated the secretary, but when everything is paid, there should be a balance of over £l2O as a result of their effort.
The president, on behalf of the Club, thanked the ladies who formed the various committees for their whole-hearted support and co-operation in helping the Club to attain its desired object. The amount collected, he felt sure, was more than gratifying to all, tmt the members of the Athletic Club realised to the fullest extent that the results could not. have been obtained without the beip of the ladies. Thanks were due to all who assisted durii?g the Carnival and to the large number of persons and firms who donated articles for the various otalls and made donations of money. In conclusion, he stated, that with the amount now in hand, the Club could carry out its programme of work, and when completed, those who had assisted this movement could look with pride upon the results of their labour.
