MAORILAND THEATRE
TOM MIX ON SATURDAY.
Tony, Tom Mix ’s noted horse that is known to all theatre patrons the world over, made a new friend during the filming' of “No Man’s Gold,” Pox Films latest release, which is to be screened on Saturday. It is a screen version of J. Allan Dunn's widely read novel of the Old West, and Mix stars in the role of a footloose cowboy. The picture was filmed in the desert and among the company was Micky Moore, a nine year old veteran of twenty-five picture dramas. Tony took a fancy to Micky, and almost adopted the boy. The famous horse has been with Mix in scores of pictures and knows the desert and it seemed that lie sensed danger in permitting Micky to wander about alone across the sands.
Any time that Micky left the v immediate vicinity of the camera and. Tony was loose, he was right at the bov*s heels and kept a careful eye on Ihe lad and before the first day*s work ended the two were real cronies.
Among the cast with Mix are Eva Novak, who has played leads opposite the famous cowboy in half a dozen pictures.
PROWLERS OF THE NIGHT; A POPULAR WESTERN DRAMA. Fied Humes, the newest of Western stars, makes his debut in the five-reel form of cowboy drama, in “Prowlers of the Night,” coming to the Maoriland Ttyeatre on Monday. This young lady makes her first appearance bn the silver screen in this photoplay. TJulike many less fortunate, Miss Kent was not compelled to go through the grind of extra work to reach her goal. Abeauty contest in Hollywood, a screen test, and presto—she was a leading, woman. Her talent, however, was unmistakable from the first and the test - was all that was needed to reveal her capabilities.
