The following letter, written in a perfect hand, was received by an Auckland business man: “Honour Sir, — “I beg to drop you a line hopping it will not draw frown from you. My friend the bootmaker, contents me that you are in search hunting for a junior servant. I beg to nominate myself for the post whatever. . “In stating you, however, I am a family man (four times) a young Chinese, my age therefore is twenty-two year one an a half month last birthday. Should you esteem me favourably to get job, I may state that I carry you satisfactorily, by punctuality, industry, honesty and respectability. “I am affectionate with the typewriter and altogether of a painstaking individuality, further I am a good talking Englishman and would be fond to work for you. “Hopping you are good health, and apologising for same.
