At the last sitting of the Newtownards (Ireland) Quarter Sessions in April several applications were heard for possession of dwellings. In onecase the rent was stated to be 9/- per month. Another instance was a case where the amount of rent was disputedThe tenant had.rented a dwelling for os per week and the landlord had resumed possession of one. of the stables allowing a rebate of 6d. per week. But the case that stands alone and one in which his Honour got something of a shock was when he was informed that the rent of the house in question was 6"|d per week. It had, he was told, originally been 6d, but an increase of a half-penny was put on. The tenant who had the house at the amount stated had gone to Canada and had sublet, and the rent being paid by the present tenant was said to be "much more. "
