WORK IN THE COUNTY.

Engineer’s Report. The report by the County Enginecer •(Mr; W. N. Anderson), which was 'adopted at the meeting of the Horowhenua County Council on Saturday, is as under: — Tokomaru Riding. “I hav6 nothing of importance to report on in this riding, everything being in very fair order. • No. 1 grader has been employed in cutting shoulders on the District loads in the northern end of the riding, and a small grader has been at w.ork on the Main Road. Slight erosion has taken place at the northern approach of the Tokomaru bridge. Netting has been sent forward and work will be put in hand at once. Approaches to Kara Stream bridge on western side of railway have 'been metalled. As instructed, Councillors for the' Riding and myself met representatives of the Makerua Drainage Board in connection with the rebuilding of the Kara stream bridge. After the matter had been -discussed, the Board agreed to enter into a contract for -the erection of same. Wirokino Riding'. The roads in this riding arc in good order, with the exception of one or two which are in need of maintenance metal. These will be attended to at an early date. No. one power grader has been at work continuously in this riding during the period. The new the Koputgroa-Foxton road has been completed. A quantity of maintenance metal is being put out on the mains roads, and a start will be made with maintenance of district roads. The deepening of water race it intcresection of Queen Street and Tiro Tiro Road has been finished. 1 Otaki Riding. Everything in this riding is in fair order. A number of the district roads require a little maintenance metal, ,vhich will be put out at an early date. Good progress is being made with formation work on tlic Waikawa South road extension. Te Horo Riding. Roads in this riding, are in fair order. A quantity of maintenance metal is ar present being delivered to district roads. Work on the Te Horo overflow channel is nearing completion. A small bridge on the Otaki Gorge road, which collapsed during the period, has been rebuilt. Ranger. The ranger, Mr. G. Watson, reports •is follows: —“Since my last report, I have impounded 99 head of wandering stock. ’ ’
