SHANNON ATHLETIC CLUB’S CARNIVAL
For the purpose of raising funds to asphalt the cycle track and to carry out other improvements at the Domain the Shannon Amateur Athletic and Cycling Club will hold a three night’s carnival in the Druids’ Hall, commencing on Thursday, June 30th, and continuing on Friday and Saturday, July Ist and 2nd. The carnival will be opened by his Worship the Mayor (Mr E. Butt). Special attractions will be provided, the star event being the championship tug-of-war, teams of four men aside, maximum weight 56 stone, and a local tug-of-war at catch weights. On the Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. there will be a baby show, particulars of which will be published later. There will also be a shooting gallery, nail driving, bran tubs, hoop-la, weight , guessing and other competitions too numerous to mention. Each afternoon and evening there will be a musical programme, while dafieing will be conti--lvuous. The object is a most worthy one and we feel sure the public ot Shannon and the surrounding district will give the Club’s effort the support it deserves. -
