In view of the electoral boundaries revision now being made by the Representaton Commissioners, it is interesting to note that 831,813 electors in the Ninth Island are at present represented by 46 members, while the South Island with 512,656 electors has 30 seats in the House of Representatives. The average per electorate is thus 18,082.9 i:> the North Island and 17,088.5 in the South. To eliminate one electorate in the South Island and create another m the North would give fairly even re-, presentation, the average number of electors to a constituency then being 17,910.9 in the North Island, and 17,677.8 in the South. The Manawatu electorate in. 1926 liad 10,186 inhabitants, as against 14,148 in 1921. The Otaki electorate had 16,338 residents last year compared with 14,601 in 1921.
