Cr. Jensen stated, at the meeting of the Horowhenua County Council, on Saturday, that the light at the Te iforo railway crossing was hardly ever burning. chairman (Cr. Monk) stated that the light was on a fixed bracket on a pole, and the vibration of the trains caused thefilament of the lamp to break. It might be necessary to make a swinging light where there was much vibration. He would look into the matter and see what could be done.
A request for roadside spoil for commercial garden use was' received by the Horowhenua County Council on Saturday. It came from Messrs Evans and Sawyer, of Manakau, who wished t,o obtain some soil from the streets near the croquet lawn and from the front of the railway cottages. The engineer (Mr. W. N. Anderson) said it was a pity; to strip the street of soil and leave the clay. After consideration the matter was referred to the Councillors for the Riding and the enginear to deal with.
