HOROWHENUA POWER BOARD.
METER RENT TO BE ABOLISHED. MR. MONK RE-ELECTED CHAIR- ' MAN. The annual meeting of the Horowhenua Power Board took place yesterday when Mr G. A. Monk was unanimously re-elected chairman for the year. The estimates were considered and recommendations by the Finance Committee for the abolition of the meter rent after the first three bi-monthly payments (that is with the September-Oc-tober accounts) were adopted. The K.V.A. charge to dairy factories is to be reduced from £5 10s to £4 per annum per K.V.A. and the Engineer is to enquire as to the possibility of further relief.
The Board decided to borrow additional capital of £IO,OOO for extensions of reticulation. The amount already spent is £IBO,OOO, but the Board has authority from the ratepayers to raise up to £260,000. The opinion was expressed by the Chairman that the whole construction work would be carried out for £200,000. Full reports of the interesting discussions on various matters will appear in future issues.
