SHANNON ATHLETIC CLUB.
CARNIVAL TO BE HELD. A meeting of the Shannon Athletic Club was held on Saturday evening for the purpose of endeavouring to arrange some scheme to raise funds to enabb them to put down an asphalt cycle track at the Domain and to improve the ground?: generally.' , Mr. J. T. Bov is presided. Ho pointed out that the , work in view would not only be a benfit to the Club v but also to the town and district.' The matter was fully discussed and on the motion of Mr. Taylor it was decided to hold a three nights’ carnival in the Driuds’ Hall towards the end of June. The main attraction at the carnival is to be tug-of-war competitions, the members of each winning team to be presented with a medal. There will also be produce, fancy work and refreshment stalls, games and competitions for valuable prizes . ' A committee consisting of Messrs' Taylor McLaggan and Satherley we/e appointed to submit rules, and conditions for the tug-of-war; competitions to the 7 next meeting of the Carnival Committee.
The ladies of' the town and district are asked to co-operate with the committee and a jneeting of ladies will c>e held in the Council Chambers on Thursday evening at 7.30 p.m.
