OPENING OF GOLF SEASON.
The opening of the Shannon Golf Club's season took place on the new links at Buckley on Saturday aftertoon. There was a large attendance of members and friends, also a number of visitors from Levin. The green, was in splendid order, - for which a word of praise is due to Mr. A. Saxon, the Green Superintendent, and a most enjoyable afternoon was spent by thos<? present. The members and visitors favourably commented on the new links, and with a few small improvements the Club will soon have first class links. Afternoon tea was supplied by the ladies and was much appreciated. At the conclusion of the afternoon's play, the president, Mr. A. Blackwood, in a humorous speech, presented the trophies to the winners, Miss Saxon and Mr. B. Spencer. During the week-end ladder matches were played between Messrs Gagliardi and Jones and Messrs Bufgiss and Blackwood, the former winning in each game. -
