Inspector Wykes reported at the Davgaville Borough Council meeting that an Auckland lady who previously came to Dargaville and booked a room in a hotel to sell her stock of ladies’ costumes and frocks now had a motor car and travelled round the district. She had only to pay £1 for a hawker’s license, instead of £5, as an itinerary license. The clerk said the lady had beaten them badly. When she calle.d for a ha wk 3r’s license she informed him that she krfew too much to pay £5 and hire a room.
