HUGE SHARK CAUGHT

Fl«irr IN SYDNEY HARBOUR. PRIZE FOR THE AQUARIUM. A. huge man-eating shark of the grey nurse variety was caught in the Sydney Harbour near Camp Cove last week, and is now in the new aquarium at Taronga Park. The shark is between 12ft and 14ft in length, and is by far the largest specimen yet obtained. Although the monster is suffering from the effects of the rough treatment necessarily meted out to it, officials are confident that it will recover. Having read an announcement that sharks were required for the aquarium at the zoo, two professional fishermen at Watson's Bay, Messrs. R. Palmer and P. Farmer, set out in thei r launch in the hope of making a good catch. The monster was hooked late in the afternoon, and put up a great fight. The fishermen, - however, " played " the shark, and when it became tired they set out in their launch for Taronga Park. The fish was towed behind the launch, its great fins standing, out prominently above the surface of the water. Officials at Taronga Park were notified, and the shark was landed on a small beach in front of the zoo. Although exhausted after the long tow, the shark .was still very lively. A iarpaulin was secured, and the task of wrapping the monster in it was not an easy one. However, this was successfully accomplished, and the shark was placed on the launch, and taken to the Taronga Park wharf. With difficulty it was lifted from the launch and placed on a lorry, and transported as quickly as possible to the aquarium, when it was placed in the water shortly after 6 o'clock. There are now about seven sharks in the aquarium, but those previously captured are only half the size of the latest addition.
