AMATEUR ATHLETICS.
SCHOOLS CHAMPIONSHIPS. yovt Saturdav afternoon, on the Park Domain, the district sohools athletu*. championships will hi held in conjunction with a mooting under the control #>f the Levin Amateur Athletic and Cycling Club. The school events will qualify the Headir.g team to hold the Hobson Shield, and medals will be awarled lo the individual champions. A lar<*e nuratwr of entiies lu-.ve been leceived, teams having been nominated by the following schools:—Poroutawhao, Ohau, Mangahao Hydro, Mana; kau Levin, Tok.maru, Waikanae and Foxton. As Foxton on Saturday last won the McKehie Shield at Sandon. a good deal of interest will centre round their performers. As only one entry for each event is accepted from anv one school the competition is confined to the champions of each school in each distance. Further entries will be received by Mr H. McDonald at the Ltvin District High School. It. is cpen to schools to nominate from cne to iwenty-four -runners. Various senior cycling races will be held, including a challenge series, which should create considerable interest. This has been initiated by the Selwyn Club, of Wellington, which is pfrting three of its riders against the local cracks, C. and <S. Dunn and Penmall in several contests. It is expected that tha Wauganui Club will also ent-fi a team in this competition. An endeayour is being made to arrange a motorpaced race as an additional attraction.
