MAN SON AND BARR CUP
Shannon successfully defended a challenge on Saturday fo- tht above cup from an Eketahuna rmk. The local rink opened their scoring account with a one on the first head After the 4th head they had a lead of 7 to 1. The next four heads Shannon secured one point and Eketahuna three, the score reading Shannon 3, Eketahuna 4. The next two heads Shannon further increased their lead by lying five and one up, giving them a lead of ten points. The following four heads were in favour of Eketahuna enabling them to add five points to their score. Shannon replied on the 15th and 16th heads with one up on each. The next two heads were Eketahuna's with a one and a three. The 19th and 20th was Shannon 's with one up on each. The challengers wanted on the last head five to make a draw or six to win, bt the I holders won the head by lying one up. The final sccre was Shannon 19, Ekcrahnmi 13. The following were tho rinks': —Shannon: H. Butt, A. T. White, W. H. Gunning, J. Gagliardi 'skip'. Eketahuna: Hopper, Slimin, Hornblow, Gooding (skip). i TERRACE END v. SHANNON. Two rinks from the Terrace End Club j visited Shannon during the week end and played representatives of the local Club. Four games were played, each Club winning two, Shannon winning on the aggregate number of points. NOTES. Woodville are the next chal.igers for the Manson and Barr Cup. This game will b 9 played on Saturday. The local green closed on Saturday with the exception of one rink, which is being kept open for Manson and j Barr Cup matches. j
