Jickell and Gijmpur); reported as follows: — Raising Kara stppbanks: Contractor Day has practically.finished.this work, check levels revealing a few, places requiring -further [attention; Kara Stream bridge (west of railway) h All the main and wing, piles hay© been driven, the sheathing placed in position, and portion pf ramps .completed inj the above work. Pumping station at', mouth of Loughnan . and Dalzell's main drain: With the exception of an ; additional length of discharge pipe to clear stopbank this work is completed. A tryout of the pump and motor took place last Saturday and proved satisfactory ; it is intended to have a trial run next Saturday morning • (if permission is given by the" Horowhenua Power Board) when it is hoped members will be able to attend.—Adopted. Overseer's Report.; The overseer (Mr. W. H. Miles) reported ...that since the last meeting he had completed repairing the, boundary gate between Messrs. Liggins and Loughnan's properties, and,the fence over the bank was almost Completed, Five chains of willows has been put in for protection at Rose's and,there was still another 5 chains yet to be completed and 40 chains up-stream from the Poplar flax-mill. The men in the intersecting channel had been making good headway with ,the deeping, and the cleaning of ' Seifert's drain had been commenced. The, bed; of Akers' drain had been badly silted up and would require the fall brought up from the river. This would cost about £2O, but there was not „enough. water going out to warrant the amount of money being , spent on the job as it ;would only silt up again. There we're several places along the stop-bank that had been,raised and will require sowing with grass seed. —Adopted.
