TAMPERING WITH WATER RACES.

A SERIOUS MATTER. "I want to speak very strongly water," said Cr. McLeavey, at tha Horowhenua County Council meeting on Saturday "During the month we have been very poorly off in regard to water. For two days on my property there was no water and the cows were wandering about looking for it. I am speaking for that end of the riding. On Mr. Kilsby's property there was no water for months on the stony part." He added that anybody interfering with the water races should be severely dealt with. The chairman said that the diverting waters had been interfered with and a lot of trouble had been caused. The County had put an extra man on in the meantime, to try to cope with this trouble. Cr. McLeavey: Can you sheet it home to anyone who interferes with the water? The chairman: We have tried. If you are short-of water, report as soon as you can.
