RECENT SALES Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd. report on the following stock sales: 'At a clearing sale at Pahautanui on the Bth held on account of Mr J. H. Carter, there was a good attendance of buyers and bidding was keen. The whole offering was cleared at satisfactory prices. Quotations: Dairy cows, April calvers, £7, £7/5/ to £8; September calvers, £5/17/6 to £6; inferior cows, £3 to £4; cows just calved £5/2/6; 2-year heifers, £3 to £3/17//6; yearling heifers (good), £3/6/; S.H. bull, £5; cows and calves, £3/5/; 2-year steers, £4/10/; 4-year steers, £7/5/; weaner pigs, 21/ to 26/. At a special sale held at Plimmerton on the 9th inst., we yarded just on 600 wethers and ewes and although the attendance of buyers wts not large, we effected a total clearance at prices showing a slight reduction on recent sales. Quotations: 2-tooth ewes 21/4, forward 2-th wethers 20/9, 4 and 5-yr. ewes (guaranteed mouths) 20/6.
At Otaki sale on the 10th inst., a large yarding of sheep and a fair yarding of cattle came forward. The attendance of buyers was good but they were all very cautious in bidding. Prices all round for sheep were a shade easier. JCattle sold at late rates. Quotations: Fat ewes 14/6, fat cows £3, £4 to £4/5, m.s. woolly lambs, small 9/1, cull lambs 4/, b.f. lambs (good) 13/, 2-th wethers (small) 20/3, £-bred wethers (small) 14/, 4-th wethers 20/3, store cowa 20/, cows and calves £3/10, m.B. weaners 10/, 18-mos. steers £2, forward P.A. bulloeka £7 10/, bulls £2 10/.
