BOWLING TOURNAMENT.
DOMINION CHAMPIONSHIPS. SHANNON—THREE WINS. LOSSES SIX. The following are the results in the vink competitions at the Dominion bowling tou.iiament held at Auckland, so far as local rinks arc concerned: — In section L, Shannon— Butt, Shannon, Roach, Sjencer (skip)—also lost their first game, going under to Garry (West End A)—10—28. Defeating Ward (Hikurangi) by 23 to 17 in the next round, they also won their third game, beating Dc.iison (Dominion road) hv the narrow margin of 16 to 15. Theioaflv;- lln.v failed to win another game with the exception of the last, losing in succession to Moves (Timaru) 21—23, Wallace (Onehunga) 13—21 j Gibson (Ponscnby) 15—30, Porteous (Wellington) o—l 7, Bray (Remuera) 20—30, and then defeating Randall (Rocky Nook) 10—15. The rink thus had threo wins and six losses. 'Bray wa., the section winner, with soA'en AVins and two losses. In section B the, Palmevston North rink —Jones, Suhan,'N. H. Nash, J. A. Nash (skip)—wont under in the first lound to Chapman (Ponsonby) —18—22, but won its next game, defeating Mc-V»li..i-pon (Rawtiiti) 'by 23 to 12. In the third round the.link sustained another loss, this time at the hands of Knight 'St. Helicr'iO —11—25. The fourth match saA\ the Palmerston North players defeat the Carlton Club (Auckland) champion, Truscott, by 20 to 17. A loss by 10 to 23 to ForshaAv (Edendale) followed, thence a win against Clark (Mount Albert—l9—ll. In the seventh march the rink was beaten by Efford (Edgeware) 22—12, but Avon the last two games, defeating Swain (Melbourne) by 20 to 18 and Snaddon (Victoria) by "27 to 26. The rink thus had nvcNvin's and four losses. " The section winners were Truscott and SAvain, with seven wins and two losses. - Playing in section I, the Woodville rink—Galbraith, Spackman, Eckcrsley. James (skip)—were beaten in their firht game by Bell (West End A)—l6—lo. Their second match, against Elvey (Devonport), they also Tost, the score this time being 24—13. In the third round they secured their first and only Avin; defeating Cordes (Thames) by 10 to 14. Thereafter tosses followed in succession to Plunkelt (Mount Albert) 15—24, Parker (Auckland) 12—36, Macfarlane (Remuera) 8—23, Hutehison (Dunedin) 13_27, Stephens (Kelburn) 16—20, Jack (Waiuku) 13—21. The rink thus had one win and eight losses and finished bottom in its section.
