RIVER BOARD ELECTION
THREE NEW MEMBERS GAIN SEATS. An election of trustees for the Mana-watu-Oroua River Board was held yesterday when only two sub-divisions were contested —the Makerua and Kairanga Sub-Divisions—as the remaining three districts had the required number o r : nominees. Two sitting members were defeated, Messrs N. P. Neileen, in the Kairanga Sub-Division, and A. Akers, in the Makerua. However, the Board will have three,new members, the Oroua representative being elected unopposed. The returns for yesterday's voting siiow two new candidates topping the poll, Mr R. Tanner heading the list for Kairanga, and Mr H. Barber for Make-, rua. The results of the election are as below : . KAIRANGA. Tanner, R 50 v Harrison, J. E. C. 40 Buchanan, D 36 Nielsen, N. P 22 The first two are elected. MAKERUA. Barber, H. 45 Seifett, A. : 27 Akers, H 18 Akers, A 15 Three members were required. The unopposed members are as follows: — Moutoa.—W. S. Carter and B. G. Gower. Koputaroa. —James Richardson. Onma.--Andrew Buchsnan.
