R. W. LAMB DUE ON 31st. GREAT RIDING BY FLETT. The visit to Levin of R. W. Lamb, the Australian crack cyclist, will take place on Monday, January 3lßt, and accordingly the Athletic Club’s sports meeting will be held on that date, instead of February 14th, as previously arranged. All the attractions. of the big, gathering which the club has bad in mind .vill be, retained, and the public will be treated to one of the best night sp n-t meetings that have ever been held in the district. F. J. Grose, the New Zealand champion cyclist, will be taking part, and a number of other well-known pet formers are nominating In addition there will be a team of first-class rmipcrs from Wellington, and the usual representative group of dis--1 trict athletes. A very successful meeting was held on th'e Basin Reserve, Wellington, on Saturday night, when Lamb won the mile invitation race in 2min 26 4-ssec., beating C. Flet.t (Wellington) in a late spurt by half a wliejei. The other scratch man, P. N. Robinson, was third, half a wheel behind Fh*tt. In the threemile A grade race, Lamb in the last lap, had the misfortune to fall, bringing- down Carswell. Flett made a great burst for the finish, and won by two lengths from Robinson. Flett also won the half-mile scratch race, beating Lamb by a length, with UarsweJi third a similar distance away.
