ELECTRICAL INSTALLATIONS.

MUST NOT BE INTERFERED WITH CASE BEFORE POWER BOARD. At this week's meeting of the Horowhenua Ppwer Board a consumer attended to explain the use of a contrivance which had the effect of converting the change-over" switch on a water heater into continuous action. The proceedings were'taken in committee, but at the conclusion ;t was decided by the Board that the matter was. regarded so seriously that a certain amount of publicity should be given to the decisions arrived at and the general circumstances. The reason given for the use of the apparatus was that the heater would not supply the water hot enough for dairying purposes. It was also claimed that oompl&int had' been made to the Board's officers about the inefficiency of the heater. The officers strongly denied that\ such complaint had reached them and the Board accepted their statements and expressed full confidence in their s|aff. The use of the apparatus, i>", was stated, # not only meant that more cur-l-cut was being used than was beiig paid for, but, if generally resorted to, might so increase the peak load that it would cost the Board hundreds of pounds for current.

After hearing the explanation given, and full consideration of the circumstances, * the following resolutions Avere unanimously passed:'

"That no further action be taken Avith regard to the use of a home-made apparatus in a Avat3r-heater installation, this being a first case and the consumer having expressed regret at this meeting of the Board, and providing also that the consumer pay the d J ference due as betAveeu the tAvo rates." "That a circular be issued to al consumer's, pointing out that the Board will take proceedings against any person who may interfere with any of the Board's installations in such a manner as to alter their use as devis ed. also that consumers be asked to make all complaints in writing." It Avas pointed out that very oft- u casual remarks might be made to meti-r readers that some part of an instunation was not very good, but these couid not be taken as definite complaints. J a the ease of a breakdown of the service, of course, a report in Avriting Avould not be expected.
