WOUNDED BY LION
AFRICAN OFFICIAL ATTACKED. • BRAVERY OF A NAIROBI, Oct. 26. While Mr. R. F. Palethorpe, ActingDistrict Commissioner at Kajiado, was out strolling' accompanied by a tribal retainer on Wednesday evening a lion sprang at him. With rare presence of mind and great bravery the tribal retainer struck at the lion with the spear he was carrying and succeeded in driving the animal off badly wonded. Mr. Palethorpe was rather badly mauled and was conveyed to Nairobi Hospital suffering from the effects of the lion’s attack and from shock.
