RUGBY FOOTBALL.

COMBINED COUNCIL MEETING: Mr J. J. O'Connor presided at a meeting of the Manawatu-Horowhenua Rugby Union, held in Levin. Also present were Messrs W. Carruthers, K. Eglinton, T. Collins, J. R. Hardie, H. Crawford, F. Robinson, W. Moynihan, J. Casey and C. W. "White. Leave of absence was, granted Mr J. Proud, who has been temporarily transferred to Wanganui. MANAWHENUA'S COLOURS. In connection with a recent request from the Combined Council that Manawhenua 's colours be maroon and white, the New Zealand Rugby Union advised that the colours of the West Coast 'Union were red and white hoops, therefore it was suggested that the Manawhehua rep. colours'' should be maroon and gold. , '• i The suggested colours found no favour with members of the Council, .who decided to appoint a sub-committee comprising Messrs J. R. Hardie, C. W. White and J. J. O'Connor to enquire into the matter of procuring a suitable jersey. > HOROWHENUA \S BOUNDARY. The New Zealand Rugby Union advised that the southern, boundary of the Horowheiiua Union extends to Pukerua station, also that G. N. Enunett was re-instated (after refereeing in League football) on the 17th of April, 1926. —Received. X FOXTON AND SEPARATION. The .Horowhenua Rugby District Council reported that Foxton were desirous of an alteration being made in the boundary between Manawatu and Horowhenua, so as to permit of Foxton's playing in the Manawatu district. The Horowhenua District Council fecomifitended that no * such alteration should be made. Mr Eglinton moved, and found a seconder in Mr Robinson, that ''this Union considers it would not be in the best interests of football in the two districts for any alteration to be made in the present boundaries," a motion which was' unanimously carried. FINANCE. A financial statement was produced, showing a credit balance of £297 18s sd, a position which was very favourably commented on by the chairman, who said he thought the Union were to be congratulated upon the success achieved in the first playing season.
