SHANNON TENNIS CLUB.

NOTES. Jn 3pito of the inclement weather, the attendances at the courts have been good, and on fine afternoons the four courts have been taxed to their capacity. During the season there will be several trophies to compete for among Ihe members. Mr G. G. Mitchell has .presented to the Club two handsome geld pins. The competition from tlicte'wink* the form of mixed handicap doubles and the winners of the matches for the medals will be entitled to retain same until they are challenged and suffer defeat. The rules fcoverning this competition will be posted up in th..* Clubhouse. In addition Mr 11. E. Hook will be presenting tiophif-s t> the club for competition among the members, and Mr J. W. Murray will present to the most improved player during the season a tennis racquet. The rules in relation to these two competitions have not as yet been decited upon but will be posted up in th-« club house shortly.

Last season was a successful one for the club and this season with the above competitions interest in the game will increase,even more. The action of the : donors is much appreciated by numbers and shows that the Club has a solid standing in the town.

The social side of the club's activities is not being neglected, and later in the season a dance will be held, the date of whieh will be notified later.

We are pleased to see with us again Mr W. G.\ Quarrie, our late club captain, but understand that he will not be taking up his residence in the town peimanently. With fine weather to assist, all the competitions should be in full swing next month and it is hoped that members, will enter for same freely.
