HIGH PRODUCING FRIESIANS.
Messrs Mickell Bros., of To Horo, are the fortunate possessors of Bainfield Sylvia Topsy 4th, a Friesian cow bred by. Mr. W. D. Hunt, of "Bainfield," Invercargill. This cow was sold for 200 guineas at Mr. Hunt's dispersal sale in March, 1924. Her sire is Rosevale King- Sylvia, and her dam thatgreat foundation cow, Oakwood Topsy. Bainfield Sylvia Topsy 4th was born on 26th October, 1921, and she gave birth to her fifth calf on 10th October, 1926, —five calves before she had reached the age of five years—lst calf on 12th Januarv, 1924; 2nd calf on I.lth December, 1924; 3rd and 4th calf (twins) 10tl October, 1925; sth calf on 10th October, 1926. With her last calving she completed a great record on semi-official test as a senior 3-vear-old, of over 804 lbs but-ter-fat in "364 days. Only two other senior 3-year-old Fricsians have a better record, Manor Beet's Daughter 2nd of Ashlynn, 863.511b5, and Hinemoa Beauty,' 512.441b5. Bainfield Sylvia Topsy 4th. 's calf, born 10th October, 1926, is a heifer sired by Bainfield Mars, whose paternal grandsire was Longbeach Major. Oakwood Topsy, 693.661bs fat, is a double grand-dam, and also a great grand-dam of this calf, and Burkeyje Sylvia Posch 983.211bs fat, is also a great grand-dam. It will be seen therefore that this heifer call: has wonderful butter-fat backing and should turn out to be a great producer. Messrs Mickell Bros, are also Ihe fortunate possessors of a- yearling bull from Bainfield Sylvia Topsy 4th—-n son of Netherland Pictertje of Bainfield (Rosevalo King Sylvia—Westmere Princess Pictertje) whose three nearest dams average 909.321bs fat.
